  • if your going to have sex and not use birth control you know that you can get pregant, why kill some one over what you did wrong. people need to grow and face there actions. there are so many people in the wrold who want children and can't have them, unless it was rape.
  • abortion is selfish even if you were raped. I would love to have more kids or be able to adopt one and you bet your ass I would adopt a rapist child. I think most people who claim 'I was raped" was say that to clear their conscious of an abortion. rape is real don't get me wrong. I was raped. I know it's real. but why kill a baby just because the father is a rapist. it's still murder. that rapist baby may grow up to be a doctor who finds a cure for cancer or alzheimers or some STD.. but who will ever know. I got pregnant without being married, I was shunned by my family, my friends, my church...everybody and I was also unemployed with no education..depending on the welfare system. I know what it's like to have no resources and facing an unplanned pregnancy with no support emotionally or financially but there was no I was going to kill my baby because I made the choice to not protect myself. it was not his fault. His new parents are forever grateful to me for that decision. you can make every excuse in the world to JUSTIFY abortion and only 1 is justifiable..the mother will die.. rape is NOT justifiable .. It is selfish
  • in the vast majority of cases it is selfish. Having failed to take precautions, the child is murdered to maintain the mother's lifestyle. In England, it has been noted by the national health that some women are using abortion as birth control. Cases were cited where women had up to six abortions, simply because they would not take birth control or insist that their partners used condoms. FGS, we have had contraception available for over 30 years now. Why is it just not being used? ANd don't give me the rape thing. There is the option of the Morning after pill for those cases. It stops implantation. Now we are at the point where we are struggling to keep alive premmie babies who are younger than some that are being aborted legally.
  • Well abortion isn't a "team sport" here, it's usually played one patient at a time - indeed, I don't even think anyone has organized "leage play". No, abortion is an individual game - like solitary or video poker. Serisously now - I have some issues with abortion - but since I'm a man and will never have an abortion I usually stay out of the argument. However - the final desision to have an abortion is up to the pregnant woman herself - as it should be. Naturally her desision will be more self centered then some she will make - and in that reguard in the final analysis it is ultimately a "shelfish" desision. And there's nothing basically wrong with that - things only go wrong when total outsiders mess with her legal rights and choices. Basically - rabid anti abortionists are control freaks of the most dubious kind - they attemtp to play god with the lives of people they don't know, they are horrid, shelfish, self rightious, meglomainacs - and it's a pitty they wern't aborted themselves back in the day.
  • I will admit, I would have an abortion if I found out later that I'd be pregnant. If I cam to find out that I was two months pregnant, I can just picture all the party's I went to, where I drank, where I smoked, whichever. I see these children wheel chairs practically living in a body without a soul. Being a good parent takes time to prepare, to stay abstinent from things you indulge in. It isn't fair to put a child on this earth with such a disadvantage. You don't need any doctor, or any parent to tell you otherwise that it isn't fair.
  • It's a personal choice... It's not up to anyone to decide but the person involved.
  • Its pretty selfish. I have never had one done personally but it seems that alot of my friends have. I have met people that have had 3 or more!!! There is no excuse for that. I do however believe that abortion is SOMETIMES necessary. Such as a child becoming pregnant, say like a 13 year old. If there is something horribly wrong with the fetus and their lives would be a living hell or your life may be in critical danger. But honestly in most cases women do it just because a baby would interfere, thats as selfish as it gets.
  • I recently had a friend who had no choice but to have an abortion. She had an atopic (i think that's the right term) pregnancy where there was no possibly way the baby would carry to term. She considered chancing it but in just another week she started having serious health problems and actually had to be admitted in the ER. There they told her that continuing to carry the baby that it could possibly kill her. Trust me she didn't want to just get 'rid' of it. It was a very painful decision to make.
  • I know this may not be the same question but you will find a lot of opinions here.http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/104785
  • Unfortunately it's as selfish as not using a condom is stupid.
  • I don't think that it is selfish in a shallow meaningless way, but if it is to think of oneself, over the life of another, when you have no idea what you personally could contribute to that life and you understand how in seeing it, that you may not be able reguardless (as a human being for very human reasons) to give it up to someone else that could... therefore hurting that life in the long run... I would call that more "too little too late." than selfish. It is a hard choice. Im afraid that the people who have never had to go through this, tend to be a bit harsh and fail to see that it is almost never a party afterward kind of thing. It is a life and I think that the women that experience this mourn it and rue it and experience pain over it that is private and personal and sometimes... for the good in the long run. No one has the right to decide. It is a mind your own damn business kind of situation. I personally feel that it is not something that should ever be done twice... as in it is wrong when it is used as a means of constant birth control.
  • abortion is rarely selfish it's a very complicated subject which cant be discussed in such black and white terms.
  • I would not presume to know the reasons someone chooses to have an abortion so can not say if they are doing so selfishly. But then, don't most of us at one time or another make some selfish choices?
