OK, hold on. Considering all things you can only go about 500 miles a day practically and safely. So, figure 6 days. However, if you don't have to rush, take time to see some of the country and attractions along the way. I hate flying; I love driving trips because I can see things, do things, visit with people, ... In 1957 my parents and I moved to Canada for a couple years; we traveled by car from south Texas to central B.C., Canada in a '52 Plymouth, camping most of the way - it was one of the most memorable experiencs of my life. This could be the same for you. Slow down and enjoy ...

there are a lot of variables involved in that question. rand mcnally web site or yahoo web site would give you the driving hours. but yah gotta sleep, and let the car cool down and stop for food and gas and potty and showers and shopping. so a thousand miles a day say five days. if you dont get lost.

Estimated Time: 43 hours 43 minutes Estimated Distance: 2909.26 miles

from http://www.mapquest.com/maps

Of course, add time for bathroom breaks, tourist traps, side-trips, overnight stays, eating, etc. ;-)

So mapquest can average 65 mph. That's hard to do!:)

Some interstates will be 70, some 60. Most will be the higher.
Even so, I'm sure they use the average speed limit on whatever roads/streets/highways/expressways to compute the time.
Personally, I'd say 42-50 hours or so. ;-)
