Mom is pretty sleep deprived... and big guy is getting bigger by the hour, it seems. ^_^ Someone needs to teach this kid the difference between night and day, though. ^_^ He sleeps for REALLY long periods of time, but only during daylight hours it seems! Mom is NOT a vampire, Ian!

Awwww...give it time Mum, he'll come around. Once he's a couple of months old, you'll get on a rhythm with him that you both will be able to live with. Something I found to be helpful with my little ones is when you put them down for the night be sure they're in a room that is completely dark. That way when you take him out and into other rooms in the house, he gets the idea that light is awake and dark is asleep. Are you co-sleeping? I did with my first daughter and not only do I have the fondest of memories of it, our sleep schedules were pretty much the same. Plus, it made breastfeeding way easier as we were already lying there together.

She still slept a lot during the day (some newborns can sleep up to 16-18 hours a day usually in 4-6 hour intervals) but when she was awake, I'd open the curtains to start “teaching” her, if you will, about light/wake dark/sleep. Every kid is different though and like I said, soon you two will get in a pattern that works for everyone.

At least he sleeps! I've known many who didn't. My brother and I sleep the whole night through from about the first week on. My mom had it easy! And there was 17 years between us so I don't know how she did it. lol!

^_^ We're kinda half and half on the cosleeping thing. He sleeps in his crib most of the time, and that's where he goes when I (try to) put him down for the night... but after he wakes and I change his nappies, I bring him into our bed. That way, Hubby and I get at least a COUPLE hours of undisturbed sleep (since you coslept, I'm sure you know that you never REALLY get a deep sleep with the baby in the bed)

I know...my hubby (bless him) spent a lot of nights in the guest bedroom. For one, so he could get some sleep for work, and two, because he couldn't sleep well with her in bed with us. When it was just the two us though, I actually slept pretty well. I moved the bed to a wall and slept on the outside...I always had a hand or my arm around her, and we actually slept very well together. Hmmmm, you're kind of making me long for those days long ago...she is 5 now and quite independent. Shhh, don’t tell her but sometimes I go in her room at night at sit beside her and watch her sleep for a bit before I go to bed. She is growing so fast...cherish these moments Lady, for they are fleeting...
