  • you did not say how many miles and has the car been serviced how long has this problem been present? sounds like a dirty throttle bore go to your local GM dealer and get a can of top engine or carbuator cleaner (spray can not the pour top) remove the air intake tube at the throttle body open and hold the buttrerfly open spray the inside of the bore liberaly and then after it soaks clean it with a lint free rag repeat till the bore is clean also check any crank vent tubes or restrictors (PCV system) and clean with the same spray. Do not use carb cleaner from the auto parts store as the throttle body is coated to prevent calcification and conventional carb cleaners will remove the coatings as well as bushings that are in some throttle bodies Good luck hope this helps.
