  • You might be able to use this solution (but I'm not certain because of piracy protection that may be on the CD): Put your PC on a LAN with another PC whose CD drive works. Put the CD in the other system's drive, then share it over the LAN. From your PC, you should be able to "see" the drive via "Network Neighborhood". Then just click on the setup.exe file that's on that drive and it should install fine. As long as your LAN is fairly decent, it shouldn't take much longer to install this way, vs. directly off of a local CD ROM drive. Another possible solution is to use Open Office, which supports all of Microsoft Office's formats (xls, doc, pps, etc.), but is completely free to download and use: www.openoffice.org
  • I hate to state the obvious but why not just get the cd fixed/replaced? Even if you find some was to jerry rig the situation your cd's still screwed up.

  • another option is to use a bittorent client like utorrent to download an office CD iso file and a disk mounting utility like magiciso from http://www.btjunkie.com then mount the iso file as a virtual drive and install from that.
