  • Well, batteries are quite important when starting a car. Current is supplied to the starter motor, current is provided to the ignition system while cranking, supplemental current is supplied when the alternator can not fully supply all the current necessary to run the car and all its components, and they act as an electrical reservoir -- charging and then discharging rapidly when needed. Wiring is the channel through which all the power transfer happens, and the bigger the wire, the more power that can flow through and utterly, the more efficiently the system can perform (generally speaking). I won't go into how wire resistance and wire length come into play in all of this, i'm just keeping it simple.
