  • If she were the Democrat candidate, I doubt this would really be an issue. And, no, it hardly DQs the mother.
  • OMG is she really ? I dont think that should hold any impact on her. It would be considered discriminatory then.
  • No I do not think it has anything to do with the Mothers ability to be a politician. It may say that she should have spent more time being a Mother but that we do not know. She now seems to have a handle on the whole spectrum Beauty Queen , 5 children, I disabled child , Anti abortion and a Pregnant teenage daughter. If she has little political experience she is winning in the life stakes.
  • Well, I think she's probably a good mom, but she's not there all the time. She's pretty well known to have supposedly taken only one day off when she had her fourth child. But it doesn't have anything to do with whether or not she's "worthy" of being the VP. The fact that's she's only been our governor for 2 goddamn years and hasn't done much before that speaks volumes though. I don't know much about the little ones or her oldest son, but Bristol and Willow, haven't heard anything good about them. Bristol's kind of a ho as far as I've heard about her, and they're kind of stuck up. They went to my school quite briefly and no one much cared for them that I knew of.
  • they live in alaska what else is there to do
  • No. Her daughter is over the age of consent. Unless Gov. Palin actually pimped her daughter out, she really can't be held responsible for her daughter's pregnancy.
  • Why should we judge ANYONE by what their relatives do? You can't control the decisions other people make, good or bad.
  • Probably not. Heck, given the different party platforms, this should appeal to a lot of Democrats. Here come the DR's! :)
  • It is legal for her to be married (with consent) in the state of Alaska. All things considered, maybe she chose not to. She isn't the first in this country by any means. From what I've seen daughters (and sons) tend to do whatever they want. Just curious, how would you prevent your daughter from getting pregnant if she decided to yo?...
  • Do not know what is the big deal is not like she is the first 17 year old to be pregnant.
  • Well, SOMEthing is missing there. Somewhere along the lines, mom and daughter lost communication and trust in each other, probably in leiu of mom's political career. Politics is a 24 hour a day job and only gets worse the higher you go. How much face time will her daughter get with her now??? I can't throw stones. I haven't been perfect, but I am not running for the second most important position of power in the world, either. Maybe my dismay at the immorality of our leaders has caused me to be jaded. What I want is a person who has nothing to hide. But I guess I am asking too much. Hell, let her in. She can't be any worse than the other politicians have been.
  • Considering the age of sexual consent in Alaska is 16 and she plans on marrying the guy who got her pregnant this is a non issue. Funny how democrats get all concerned with morality when it's a republican candidate. This isn't even newsworthy.
  • Of course not. I don't even know why it's such an issue and why anyone is talking about it in regards to her qualifications.
  • No, it is fairly common family problem that happens to anyone. It doesn't affect her worthiness to be a VP. Her inexperience in just about everything else does affect her choice. Is this the best the republicans can come up with? It is almost as bad as the democrates nominating Kerry. The one person on earth that Bush could beat. Both parties are hopeless. Actually Governor Palin's policy of reproductive ignorance is what should be discussed.
  • Hell no. I've seen it on the news soo much today, and I am so sick of it. The daughter isn't running to become VP, her mom is. As Obama said, leave the kids and family out of it.
  • Even though part of me wants to jump on the "what about family values, abstinance, etc" thing, it really isn't an issue for many reasons. Now if only both parties could agree that a Muslim birth father or gay daughter or drunken daughters, etc, etc, etc are not grounds to qualify or disqualify anyone from office.
  • Wasn't she raped?? I think I read she was raped and that since they were against abortion she decided to keep the baby. What's the big deal?
  • Absolutely not! She's a separate person who has nothing to do with her mother's qualifications...
