Well not all Christians are corrupt, many are in it because they have good intentions, but yet corruption is common within the church, because any organised religion basically be it Christianity or Islam there are men on power trips with egos, so greed, corruption and deceiving people to believe what they tell them to believe for money or to feed there power trips will always follow. Its why I am not interested in religion as I can think for my self, I don’t need someone else to tell me how to think. I prefer to be spiritual and find things out for my self. That way power hungry people don’t have any power over my thoughts and all there corruption and deception doesn’t effect me, and I can concentrate on respecting and having a personal relationship with God and learning from Gods wisdom that can be found within life its self.

I think that Christianity has produced a society that is less corrupt than others. Why would so many people want to come here from other places? Because they will be treated fairly. As far as deception, would you mean division? I think Christianity is greatly divided because of its toleration for different interpretations of the belief.

Because there is so much deception and corruption in any religion or culture, its just human nature.

I doubt that there is more among Christians than the general public. There may be less. Anyone can call themselves a Christian. Actually, anyone can become a Christian. We come to Christ as frail ragamuffins. The first qualification to become a Christian is that one must be a sinner. If you are not a sinner, you can't join up. That disqualifies some folks in their own minds. Having said that, I sympathize with your concern. It is sad that there have been so many attrocities in the name of Christianity. I apologize.

Most ppl have not seen other religion as deeply as they have seen Christainity, thus can only comment abt it. There is much more curruption in other religion with the exception of Buddhism which has brought good discipline among monks and abbeys. Few example: The sikh religion: There is tremendous power hunger for the position and greed for the temples' offering. Hindu religion: 99% Pundits are extremely currupt, involved in greed, power hunger, many in sex abuse and sex trade, drug and hashish trafficing and countless other misdeeds. Islam: Imams known for the greed, power, and some even selling their daughters to rich arabs for money and position in the mosques. Christian has it's own weakness, but comparitively much cleaner than other religions.

I think it's a human thing. One thing though, no matter how deceptive Christians or others are -- God always knows -- ALWAYS!

No one is perfect! I think people just expect more from Christians. You have to remember Christians have faults just like everybody else. They just have more reasons to feel guilty and try to hide them.

In his second letter to Timothy, the apostle Paul mentions those “having a form of godly devotion but proving false to its power; and from these turn away.” Recall that youths in some “Christian” churches actually have a higher rate of premarital sex than the average. Why, even if the immorality of those churchgoers were only at the average level, would that not be proof that their form of worship was powerless? Paul’s words show that we ought to put into practice what we learn from God’s Word, having a way of worship that manifests the real power of Christianity. Concerning those whose form of worship is powerless, Paul tells us: “From these turn away.” That is a clear command, one that will bring us definite benefits. Jesus prophesied that there would come to be many who claim to represent him as his followers, and yet they would disown Jesus by their lifestyles. In the Bible Book of Matthew, Jesus said, 16 “By their fruits YOU will recognize them. Never do people gather grapes from thorns or figs from thistles, do they? 17 Likewise every good tree produces fine fruit, but every rotten tree produces worthless fruit; 18 a good tree cannot bear worthless fruit, neither can a rotten tree produce fine fruit. 19 Every tree not producing fine fruit gets cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Really, then, by their fruits YOU will recognize those [men]. 21 “Not everyone saying to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the kingdom of the heavens, but the one doing the will of my Father who is in the heavens will. 22 Many will say to me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and expel demons in your name, and perform many powerful works in your name?’ 23 And yet then I will confess to them: I never knew YOU! Get away from me, YOU workers of lawlessness”. Yes in this passage of scripture, Jesus was clearly speaking to those who claimed to be Christians. Did you note that those appealing to Jesus here were ‘recognizing” Him, claiming to have performed many powerful works in His name? Yes, sadly, it is these type of “Christians” that you have noticed. Ones like these are a “stumbling block” to others who find the refreshing teachings of Christ appealing.

I think that we notice deception and corruption more amongst Christians because it's exactly against what they preach. My family left its church years ago because of the very un-Christian behaviors going on there. But truly, there is most likely not any more deception and corruption than there is in any group, religious or not. It just seems out of place with the "kind" Christians.

most modern day religions now-a-days, are run more as a business than a religious cult or organization.( not saying catholics are a cult..i am a catholic ! ) Too many decisions are for financial, not to mention, personal gain. I thins all major religions have been "mankind altered" to suite ourselves and needs. Deception and corruption are word wide and not limited to christians. ( thats my thoughts anyway )LIKE I SAID THESE ARE MY THOUGHTS WHY DOWN ATE ME ??

As said here among some of the other great answers, corruption is not just a Christian problem. The problem with most religions is that they are essentially the political bodies of faith and spirituality. They are the keepers of the word and the guiders of the light... and, they are man made. Power corrupts, and religions are pretty powerful. There are so many examples of corruption among all religions, I don't know how you arrived at this question without also being lead to think of it as more universally applicable to any and all of them.

When you run an organization that requires its members to accept what you say without question, I imagine that is an invitation for wolves to show up in sheep's clothing. I admire the faith and devotion of the Christian community, but sometimes I wonder if the world is safe enough for that degree of faith.

You need to remember that there are 2 judgements. The first is the Judgement of the world (un- or non-saved), and the second, the Believers Judgement, where God gathers his Church, and culls out the sheep from the goats. Many "Christians" seem to forget the latter judgement, as they go about living their lives from day to day as though Christ never called them to be conformed to His image, to be Holy vessels. They're in for a big surprise......
