  • some people don't want answers . they want you to agree with them. I saw a lot of this on YA. a teenager would write in and ask something like "I am 13 is it ok if I have sex with a 30 year old." everyone would say NO. of course not. and she would get mad at them all. she would keep asking the question 20 times or more until someone finally said "sure, it's your life". so, they don't really want your opinions and answers. they want you to justify why what they want to do is legal or right and agree with them
  • Alot of questions are "baiting" or "loaded" questions asked because they know people will disagree and it gives them an excuse to argue. It's very amusing to me.
  • I have no idea, but it's frustrating, it makes you feel like saying I wish I hadn't bothered and ask what their problem is.... some also get sarcastic and almost nasty if you didn't quite understand the question or read it differently to what they were meaning by it!!! then they come back with stuff like I didn't mean it like that, I wasn't saying that, don't think you get it! They seem so arrogant and bitter, sad really!! ;0)
  • A lot of people ask questions not because they want an answer, but because they want to voice an opinion. They are trying to bait you for a debate. By the way, Debate.com is an excellent place to go for a one-on-one, turn-taking debate with the community watching and adding their comments. You post a controversy or questionable issue... you take a pro or con side... and you wait for someone to take up the other. Only one person debates you, and it lasts for a predetermined number of turns before the community votes on best argument. Many people word their questions loaded, as a means to force you to consider their opinion or as a means of degrading their opposition. And they get pissed when you debunk theirs, or voice an opinion that is contrary to their belief-system. No one likes to be shown up and told their beliefs are wrong, backed by logic and reason. It is insulting.
  • A very good question indeed. I call this baiting, where someone has an agenda and an answer in mind and when people don't agree with them, they arrogantly argue and basically make a fool of themselves. I try very hard not to go anywhere near these questions. Total waste of time.
  • I think there are several reasons why that happens. Some people like to argue for the sake of arguing. They also think that they are smarter than everybody else or they only want to see answers that they personally find appealing. After a while you can tell which questions are seeking pleasant discourse and which questions are set ups.
  • A few people here are just asking questions to push their agenda, not to gain knowledge or learn from others.
  • Some of them are trying to earn their degrees in baiting. Of those people, some are striving for a Master's degree in baiting because they have so little satisfaction in life that they're compelled to resort to Master baiting. ;)
