I'm going to assume you meant drivers license, check with the DNR for your state or visit government websites to find the proper answer. In most areas 12-17 year olds need a permit that can be obtained by taking a short class. If you are 18+ you might still consider the educational class as it will help make it more fun as well as easier to read buoys and navigational signs. ¤ Some insurance companies also give discounts to people who have completed the course. If you will be operating for commercial reasons you would then need to get the appropriate license.

Not neccasarily but you will need it registered and you should b 16 by the law but boaties ignore that. as long as ur capable. you can get a skippers lisence but i spend my life on the water - im 15 and i liv on a boat in the hols, and i drive boats round all the time. and a yacht is just sailing pretty much mut if you want u can get a skippers licence ae. but a radio licence u shud get.
