  • The current government in Japan has been in power too long has become corrupt to the point where the ruling party must be replaced. The bureaucrats that are in positions controlling various institutions serve only for their own interest and move actively to remain in power rather than for the benefit of the tax payer and normal citizen. The system of Amakidari must be specifically made illegal instead of the self-imposed restrictions which is nothing more than a gesture to keep fooling the Japanese people.
  • Japan has shown the world that taking a good idea and making it better (cars, automobiles, etc.) can make an entire nation's economy more stable and that is good for its people. The cultural contribution of Japan that I appreciate the most is the Japanese garden - anyone can make one, large or small, and find the serenity that it offers. Japan has also shown that a country can change its reputation from a warrior state to a peaceful country, by how it handled itself after WW11 - I, for one, admire the Japanese people greatly for this commitment to a principle.
  • Hi Kei, I think it may be because there are no great thinkers or philosophers associated with Japan. I'm sure there are some but they have not been translated or assimilated into foreign culture. For a long time Japan tried to isolate itself from the rest of the world. Today Japan is most famous for its exports.
