Yes,a Mac is like a Rolls Royce, and Dell a Ford Pinto.I have owned both and seen the difference.

no macs were only designed for photoshop and video editing....i will tell you this even if you have to pay more for a dell computer..get a very good gamming one and you can do homework/work,play amazing games, photoshop things just as good as the mac...i.m. people, watch movies/videos, blog, go on myspace all at the same time.....a mac is like getting cum in your ear....nobody like it.....and a dell gamming computer to you would be like a quadruple some and having 7 orgasms....

Mac and dell are different types of computers. Dells are not the best choice in PCs. You really should be asking what are the pros and cons of a PC to a Mac.

Quality wise My Mac computer seem to have a better "fit and finish" then my one older Dell (2002), desktop. Then again I have a Dell E series ( 2004 ) at the office that's built like a tank. It's really quality workmanship. However, I think the question your really asking here is which opperating system is better. MS windows or Mac OS. First let me say that I hate Windows - I really hate the ten zillion built in bugs of the Microsoft OP system - YET I USE IT 90% of TIME. The last good version of Windows was XP - and I'm being very broadminded when I say "good" here. This machine is running Vista home media edition and it sucks - it's garbage compaired to windows XP for virtually any application. MAC OS ( 9 or 10 ), Is super stable and works exelent with official MAC OS system software - but it can have some big issues with running some so called "compatable" programs designed for both systems. I also run a few machines here with Freespire, Ubantu, and even Windows 4.0 DOS, ( and that's not as buggy as some old timers have claimed ) - as you can see I've been playing with these damned computers for some years. Anyway, MAC's are great machines with stable OP systems, for recreational uses EXCLUDING GAMES I'd go for the MAC, For Profesional uses I would go with Windows XP and stick with it for as long as you can. As for the Linux systems all of them are still a bit "buggy" - the best of the lot seem to be the last build of Ubuntu, Freespire, ( not Linspire! ), and Red Hat. These systems hold lots of promise for down the road and may eventually surpass either MAC OS or Windows. I hope I was helpfull here.

Let’s put it this way: there’s a reason Microsoft has one support technician for every thirty Windows-based PCs, but only one support technician for every 120 Macs. I’ve supported both professionally, and there’s no comparison. Heck, the Macs even logged onto the Windows 2K3 Server more easily than the WinXP machines! Then you’ve got the difference in price: low-end Dells are going to be less expensive than low-end Macs, but that’s because Apple doesn’t really compete in the low-end arena. The only machines that can reasonably be called a “low-end” Mac have a lot of standard features that you just won’t find on a Dell, and once you upgrade the Dell to have comparable specs, you’ve spent more money on a computer that‘s going to have a lot more problems and become obsolete a *lot* more quickly. By the time you get to the high end, it’s just sad. I convinced my Dell-loving boss to get me a Mac because a comparable Dell would have cost over $2,200 more. So yeah, I’d say so.

yes they are if you want a great computer thats built to last and has made the quantum leap apple has by using intel processors inside up to 8 core in the mac pro and an os based on unix.you can even run windows on a mac if you need too,all software installed with a mac is from apple too no issues.there if you want gaming a ps3 and xbox 360 are online gaming friendly now.ive used a pc for 3 years now and dont really like using windows half baked os (just my personal opinion) there are a majority of people happy using windows and I am glad they are happy with it,its just not for me anymore and the latest imac when I saw how stable and smooth running mac osx was I decided to switch from windows and now I have ordered my apple mac because it has everything ive been looking for in a computer without the hassle of windows which is great for offices but is not actually a home computer as such.

Hello. Hope you are fine. I think both are good. Thank you.

Tough one. First off, Dell is not the best PC out there. In fact, many may argue that nearly any computer is better than Dell, though the truth is that they are merely average. Macs are made by a monopolistic company that doesn't like allowing end-users to repair or upgrade it's hardware. As they have a monopoly on both sales and service, they can (and do) charge a lot. Granted, the Mac is a well-built machine, and OS X is more stable than Windows, but I could make between two and five Linux boxes that were just as fast, stable, and secure as a Mac for the price of one Mac. What people don't realize is that what makes OS X so great is the fact that it's based on a BSD core, which means that it's practically a Linux box except that Linux is free ("free as in speech" as well as "free as in beer") whereas OS X is a commercial product with a draconian license. That drives the price of a Mac up a bit as well. However, Dell has it's own faults which are more minor but more numerous. Accordingly, I would pretty much say that neither are particularly great compared to a DIY system assembled by a competent builder.

Mac sucks. end of story. see the thing here is you are comparing manufacturing companies, not the os. mac computers simply come with a high end graphics card and a decent processor. dell and most other pc companies design their boxes to suit a much more diverse clientel as that they have a large assortment of hardware you can get. most PCs were designed to range from affordable up to top line stuff. now for the os microsoft vs mac. most people like to bitch that mac's have better anti virus. the truth is, that is a load of crap. mac has not been around nearly as long as microsoft, and the antivirus is certainly not as extensive as microsoft's stuff. mac was built after the microsoft framework had been built and was firmly established, so mac had many years of experience to use to design their product after. i could keep going on, but this post is long enough as is and i think you get the point. the best PC hardware owns the best mac hardware. everytime. :D

Apple is just for the professionals.  and dell is "bang for the buck"

No, I do not believe that Macs are any better than Dells, let alone any other pc brand. The only reason that people say they are is because, and maybe not knowing, but they are blinded by the fact that it is a Mac. They are blinded and made ignorant just by its brand name. I happen to own several Dell laptops and another brand laptop, and I have used Macs before too. And, well, what I own pretty much tells the story of how I feel about Macs. Thanks

SInce Mac has only one platform Dell's are intel/pc/zz86 based it is hard to comapre a mac to a Dell I think that any PC in the real world will work better than any Mac dell's just happen to suck
