OK, just remember that the more water, the harder it will be to pull on it, IMHO. So, I wouldnt put any more than you need, and dont forget the ice cubes. A few inches of water will be enough, I certainly wouldnt fill it all the way up. Plus, remember water is heavy, and wet, so , when you get stoned, it will be harder to pass, and you would be more likely to spill it, if there is a lot of water... :)

Well thanks for the heads up on this question Chris...:D Weellll...as it just so happens i have a four 1/2 foot bong :D I have pretty strong lungs so i would tend to fill up more than half of the bottom of it, as for ice, just remember that eventually the ice will melt which will cause more water...if the bottom is really big then even though it may look like you have less water in it, the water volume will be more due to the increased diameter and bottom surface area of the bong. So i would say the bigger the bottom the less you should put in, the smaller, the more. :D
