  • I'm not sure if he could die but he might get sick and throw it all up if he's drinking too fast. Has he been sick? Some dogs tend to drink a lot of water when they are sick or on certain medications. If he keeps drinking more than he normally would I would have him checked by the vet.
  • Sure... any animal can. But he won't... he'll instinctively know when to stop. It takes a lot of water, and since dogs don't compete in ridiculous competitions like "Hold your wee for a wii", he has no reason to drink a fatal amount of water.
  • of course
  • His bladder would explode.
  • A child has died from it so I assume a dog would too.
  • Sure could. I'll bet it won't happen. If your concern is a dog that has changed it's drinking habits so that it is consuming a lot more than usual I would make a trip to the vet as this can be symptomatic of a couple different things. If this has been ongoing and the normal mode I would not be concerened. My two dogs have completly different water drinking habits.
  • Yes, any animal can, especially if they are overheated and drink lots of cold water.
  • If there has been an abrupt change in your dog's water consumption, please call your vet right away. If it is what he normally drinks, don't worry about it.
