No, for it is just a celebrity craze, and one where your status in the church depends on your donations to the church. Wealth should not be equated to superior spirituality.
-
I honestly do not know enough about it to agree or disagree with it.
-
It is more of a cult than a religion just trying to separate you from your money

Do I accept it as a reality? Yes Do I accept it as in would convert to? No. Do I accept homosexuality? Yes Am I homosexual? No. Not to accept Scientology would be hypocritical of me, since I think I have the right to believe what I choose. I do not agree with it, but there are those who don't agree with my beliefs. I am not sure I fully understand your question, but Scientology (as any other religion) is a choice, homosexuality isn't. People should not HAVE to accept what someone else believes, but not to accept someone for who they ARE is , in my opinion, completely different.

The scary part is, this is really what they believe.

you should choose which ever path makes you feel comfortable. religion is not a dictatorship, if it becomes that then it is not a religion BUT a dictatorship. we fight to have liberal views, to vote and not be told what we should do, why should religion be any different? some people are happy with gay relations, others are not. some are happy with eating a pig, some are not. nobody should decide how we live as long as it does not hurt or endanger another human being. i have yet to see a religion that says it is not right to hurt a child or rape a someone...this kind of religion i would consider following....but as for me, i live my life knowing i will never hurt anyone intentionally, i will not steal, rape, hurt, murder, or put any child or adult in danger via drink driving, taking drugs etc. if we all lived by those rules homosexual, bisexual, transvestite i dont think it would matter.

I take it you are a scientologist? regardless, being a science fiction writer is not the best beckground for starting a religion. not to mention so many of the publisized beliefs are such bubkis (silent birth) I can not help but wonder if this was a sociological experiment L Ron Hubberd lost control of and decided to ride the wave. as for homophobia... misnomer designed to degrade people who do not idolise the gay movement. until that word, ALL phobias were irrational fears. just for the sake of digging on people who are grossed out by homosexuality they gave it a second deffinition which makes to include strong aversions making me a step-on-slug-phobe.

you seem to be making a comparison between a religion and a form of sexual preference. Homophobia is a term that pro-homosexuals attach to people that they feel don't support their drive for rights and acceptance based on their sexual preference. Homosexuality and acceptance or rejection of that lifestyle is an old debate that dates back centuries. The church of Scientology is a relatively new religon and they tend to keep to them selves and is just like any other religion... its out there for people to join, reject or ignore. There is some controversy when it comes to Scientology, but nothing that gets the passion and high emotionalism that rises when people debate homosexuality.

The Church of Scientology, a religion. Religion is something that is chosen. I don't know a lot about it. What I do know, I don't understand. Do I accept it? Well, as I said, I don't know much about it. But, I will not tell anyone they don't have the right to believe/worship as they choose. Nor will I say that they should not have the right to do so, be harassed/physically abused or killed for doing so, lose their job or right to housing for doing so, not be allowed to marry for doing so. All of those things are what homosexuals are subjected to every day. Homosexuality, a sexual orientation. Genetic, inborn, not chosen. Some people don't get it or understand it. That's fine. No one is forcing them to. They don't have to "accept" it. BUT...when the line is crossed and they harass, abuse, prevent us from having equal rights, take rights away, our jobs away, our homes away, our children away or our lives away...and claim we aren't worthy of those rights and treat us like second class citizens...then they are homophobes. If you don't like it or accept it but just live and let live...I don't consider you a homophobe. If you actively participate in any of the above mentioned activities, then I do! You cannot compare religion to sexual orientation. They are completely different things.

Do I accept it? I accept that both the Church of Scientology and homosexuals exist. But I am neither religious nor homosexual. I have no problems with anyone practicing either of these two things, and if someone wishes to call me names over it then that is their problem and doesn't mean I have to take any notice of it. As to double standards there is a difference, those who are homophobic generally try to restrict the rights of the homosexual individual whereas those who dislike the church basically just ignore it.

I am neither scientologist or homosexual. I accept that both exist. I have no problem with homosexuality. I don't agree with scientology, but for the same reaons that I don't agree with islamic or muslim or any other religions. Not that they are wrong, they are just not what I believe. Jesus tells me that he is the way and the light and none shall get to the Father except by him. Sooo...that is how I choose to live. I do not hold a grudge against those who do not share my beliefs. ( Not sure what religion has to do with homosexuality. It's apples and oranges.)

I'm all for allowing people to believe whatever they want. I seriously couldn't care less if someone wants to think that Scientology is the real deal, because it's none of my business. But the problem is that it's not just about a belief system. You have to pay to be in it, and once you're in it, they do whatever they can to keep you in it. They are brainwashed and cut off from their families and friends so that they can't interfere with the brainwashing. Anyone that protests Scientology is spied on, has their personal information stolen, and they are occasionally framed for crimes (since, according to L. Ron, anyone who is against Scientology is a criminal, and all you have to do is either find their crimes or make them up). It's not a double standard. Homosexuality is not harmful to people, despite what some people might say. Scientology is a dangerous cult, and it is harmful to people. There is absolutely nothing wrong with being against it. Don't be against a person's right to believe in Scientology, but be against it's criminal practices.

Total and utter rubbish - just like all the other religions.
-
I accept it as in, I respect it... though personally I don't believe in it at all and would not convert to it. And I accept homosexuality in the same way. I have great friends who are homosexual, and even though I don't believe what they believe, I still respect them for who they are.

I think i understand what your trying to say, but it appears that you are trying to compare very diferent situations. Non-Acceptance and phobia are two diferent things: Homophobia is a fear and typically anger/hatred based emotion, with a history of violence towards homosexuals... hence why its concidered a bad label. People can choose not to accept homosexuality, and not be homophobic; conversely, accepting homosexuality dosent mean you are or have to be homosexual. A good number of people choose "not to accept" Scientology as a way of life. others, despise Scientology altogether, and a few others i suppose you could go as far as to say are phobic of Scientology. in comparison however, homophobics have hurt and killed more homosexuals than Hubbaphobe's have hurt/killed Scientologists. Personally, i dont see your observation as a double standard, though i can understand your conclusion. No one is asking homophobics to "accept" homosexuality as a way of life... just the right to exist without fear or oppression. And although there are many who do not like Scientology and thus do not accept it, scientologists are further from danger or oppression than homosexuals may ever be.

Scientology is a 100% rort...from start to finish and anyone who gets sucked in by the crap they peddle is a fool. Now for the second part there is no double standard at all...one deals with fairytales and the other deals with real life
