  • Ok!! this may sound a little crazy but; My friend is a Nurse, she fell and broke her lower back a few years ago. She has plates screws the whole package in her back. Always in pain in varying degrees until she started wearing a bracelet made of magnets. She tried it just to see, and swears it has helped her.....a lot.....she is not the kind to say something works if it doesn't......ever. She has been wearing the bracelet for approx a month and says it is still working great. So that's all I know about back pain and what to do. I don't understand why it would work and always thought the magnet thing was a scam. Go figure!!
  • Yes, Lower, Acute/Chronic (lol dont know which to classify it as). Working as a cashier, the counter was to low for me so for 6-8hrs each day I would be slightly bent over. Payed attention to when i was working I would not bend over I stayed ridged, finally I quit because of a better job.
  • Oh, you poor man.. that old Home Depot cart pushing injury is acting up again? You would probably do well with a nice deep tissue massage or a visit to a chiropractor for an adjustment.
  • The YMCA here has offered Healthy Back courses for years. The goal is to do gentle stretching exercises that help sooth the back and strengthen the gut muscles that hold everything in place. I used to lose at least two weeks of work every year when my back went out. Chiropractic didn't work for me. No more lost days, or being torn in two, after learning those exercises! They also offer a Knee Class that helped me...
  • Well about 8 years ago I was rear ended. Needless to say as a result of the wreck I had 2 bulging disc L4 and L5 (lower back) It felt like someone stuck a knife in my tail bone. So for the next 7 years I spent much time and effort into strengthening my back muscles (which helps tremendously) and being very careful as to what and how I lifted anything. I started having pain again about a year and 1/2 ago. My chiropractor at that point became my closest friend. He helped a great deal with therapy but eventually my L5 disc ruptured and on July 19th, 2007 I had back surgery. The rupture was so large they ended up going in both sides of my disc to repair it. NO doubt it was the best thing I have ever done (back surgery) and am now pain free. Back pain takes a huge emotional toll on you. I suggest doing back strengthening exercises and be careful about how you bend and no running. Good luck!
