It depends on the crime this person is charged with. If its a felony, it will take place in criminal court, before a judge. I must say, that some people will plead guilty to a crime and never enter a court room. this is usually accomplished before or even after general sessions court. Its a "no contest" plea and is accomplished outside the courtroom.
