I have a 99 ford ranger 4x4 w/ ABS.. when I step on the brake while making a tight turn, the ABS engages and the truck has an extended stop.. is this a wheel speed sensor?...Thanks jlocon

    Depending on how tightly you're turning, it is possible that your wheel speeds are different enough to trick the ABS sensors into thinking one of your inside wheels is locked up. And if one or more of your brakes is effectively disengaged by the ABS module, the remaining brakes will take longer to stop your truck.

    Does the pedal feel hard at the top of travel? you need to let the dealer know in case it's a safety issue. I have had it happen two times and it feels like the engine being at a low rev. is not giving the brake booster enough vacuum for the pedal to work correctly. btw- should you be hitting the brake before the turn so you don't spin-out, this could happen even with ABS.
