  • I would think that for legal reasons, that they have to state that it is an 18 our older area of the site, but there is no true way, to stop the minor from getting in, of course, they could delete any answers or questions by a minor, in that area.
  • Hey Dale! I would say because to warn people that the category has some adult-related questions. You can't stop the person, but it's just a warning. It's just like adult sites, you can't be stopped into going in to them.
  • How can one truly confirm the age of the person behind the keyboard? Some minors have their parent's credit cards while some adults don't have any, so that isn't a good way to verify age. (It also destroy anonymity and leaves one open to fraud.) The "honor system"... PHHTT!! Biometrics maybe?
  • Anyone can be 18 on the internet. Hell, last time I checked there were plenty of 100 year old's on MySpace!

  • It's a technicality that keeps them from being sued by a million people. They can say hey we have the terms and conditions posted, the minor clearly violated them. Just like when McDonalds got sued for a trillion dollars when someone got burned by their hot coffee, so now it says Hot Coffee on the cup, doesn't change anything, people still get burned, but they can't sue for it now.
