I have a friend who is a college graduate, and has been looking for a job in the same kinds of places I, a high school graduate, has. Am I right to be feeling hopeless about jobs when someone with a higher education can't even get a minimum wage job?

No, not at all, employers look for people they think will stay in a job. To an employer a college grad will appear less likely to remain working on minimum wage than a high school grad. Don't worry about it you will be fine.

I don't think you should worry about it. An employeer may wonder why someone with a college degree is looking for a job that doesn't require a degree. The right job will come along. I wish you great success in your search!!
