On the various series of Star Trek, we see picture frames once in a while. Why weren’t they digital picture frames, which are already available today at Wal-Mart, Target, and other major stores?

Because they didn't exist when the show was created. Didn't those things just come around withing the last few years?? Are there still new episodes of Star Trek???

If the writers of Star Trek had actually known about the inventions of the future they would have owned a shitload of Apple stock.

There is the possibilty that there are digital picture frames elsewhere that aren't shown. At any rate there seems to be the underlying assumption that the digital must replace the analogue once it is invented. Why? One is good for some things, the other is good for others. I hope I'm not reading something in here...

- I don't think so. Digital picture frames are good for putting around digital photographs or artwork, while I can't imagine how digital frames are supposed to frame paintings or drawings. Unless digital artwork is supposed to be a replacement, as essentially equivalent to analogue art, so it can just move in and occupy the field, so to speak (a risible proposition), how can something that is totally non-functional for the purpose be ascribed to nostalgia when it is used?
