McDonald's is a franchise based business that allows the owner of each store to choose items available on their menu based on geographical location. Meaning that, even thought every McDonald's you will ever see serves the BigMac, it isn't actually required of that store to offer that sandwich if predicted sales are so low that it would not be in the best interest of the consumer and in turn the owners. Sorry, the BigMac is a extreme and unrealistic example of my point; McDonald's menu is very broad in respect to alternative foods not usually seen over The ones that accompany combo #'s. McDonald's in Texas offer the Bratwurst Sausage with bun and Sour kraut as a seasonal item. Also the McRib is a regular item in some stores as well. Some McDonald's may also offer items that aren't on any McDonald's menus: such as the So Cal McD's that offered fresh Cappuccinos and Lattes. They were given permission by corporate McD's to serve the drink as long as the preparation and handling routine was kept safe for all involved by following basic food handling procedures for such food items as milk and hot steam... All in all, I would say it is safe to assume that with all the flexibility given to individual McD's stores to cater their menu selection more appropriately for their consumer base - that there is somewhere that McD's does serve plain ol' hot dogs.

My first answer so be kind on criticism, or not. Oh, I worked for McD's for around 4 years off and on and was "shift manager/trainer/fry boy... " KrispyKreemD
