No. The Knights Templar were an order of Knights formed originally to protect pilgrims making the pilgrimage from Europe to The Holy Land. They were named because their headquarters in Jerusalem was within the ruins of the Jewish Temple. They later became the bankers for the wars against Islam, and thus very wealthy. When one of their major creditors, the King of France, could not repay his loan, he decided to start a smear campaign against the Templars, accusing them of idolatry and paganism. He then launched calculated attacks against them, destroying their strongholds and arresting the knights. He burned them to death. The Order never recovered. St George dates from a much earlier period of Christian history. No one knows for sure if he was a real person, (he oprobably was) but, like Robin Hood, a lot of legends grew up around him. If he lived, it was at the end of the 3rd century. He was supposed to have been a soldier in the Guard of Emperor Diocletian in the Roman Empire. It was Diocletian who executed him for his Christian faith. One of the best known legends associated with him is him slaying a dragon. This dates from the Middle AGes. Although it seems that it is pure fantasy, it may be symbolic. The "dragon" may represent a pagan god, or indeed, Satan, (in the same way that St Patrick's ridding of snakes in Ireland is symbolic of getting rid of Druidism).
