  • Most likely the brake light switch is sticking and the juggling is helping to free it.. You will need to locate where this switch is and either replace it or repair/grease it.
  • The switch under the dash that activates the lights probably needs to be adjusted. What happens is that the switch itself comes into contact with the shaft on the brake pedal when its released causing the lights to deactivate. When you apply the brake pedal the shaft separates from the switch causing the lights to activate. So by jiggling the pedal you probably have a situation where the switch is right on that borderline between being on and off when you finally get the lights to deactivate.
  • Absolutely. Brake light switch. It should be located on the pedal above where you rest your foot. I've had bad ones but mostly they just go out of adjustment. While adjusting be sure you don't over adjust. You want the lights on as soon as the pedal is pressed. Some electrical cleaning spray on the switch wouldn't hurt either.
