My comment button always is yellow...but often all the comments are gone...are they (the comments) hiding somewhere else?

When it happenes to me, it's because they've been passed up in the five page queue.

This happens to me. In fact, I don't think I've seen gray bulbs since April :) I think this is some sort of glitch. When you are fairly certain you have no new comments, just hit "Mark all as read" - it will light up again when new stuff comes in. Before doing that, uncheck answers (and ratings, if you keep that on), and see only comments. If none pop up, it's time to mark all as read.

Probably on page 6 and beyond. You can't get to them. Take the advice of Sixty B. to turn it off.

They COULD be... If you turn off answers and ratings, and go through all five pages you might find some. Otherwise, someone opened a comment box on one of your answers or a thread you were on. Whether they leave a comment, ARE leaving a comment, or have left the page (with the box open) is open for conjecture. If you think you've read them all, and your light's still on, they've passed beyond the 5-page limit, and you won't be able to get them. Click the "Mark all read" and your light will go off. Be aware, though, that if anyone has commented and it's simply waiting for your feedback page to update (say 3-5 minutes), THEY will be flagged as read, too, so get a good take on the last answer/comment/rating at the top, so you can read down to it.

Maybe you have a comment left back somewhere inthe distant past. Have you tried pressing the Clear all Comments button, that would clear anything lurking back in the distant past.

Nope, they aren't hiding somewhere else. They're just waiting for a few minutes before showing up :) Another one of Answerbag's recurring glitches.

Yes, they are probably hiding on page #6 or further back. I hate to do this to, but just click on "mark all as read," it should fix your problem.
