I believe that women do like to test men for many reasons. Many believe that they need to test them in order to make sure you have a guy worth keeping, just like Thomas_Edison said. Others, I think, have a hard time believing that the guy will actually do what they are testing them. Just the other day I tested a guy that I am interested in. I decided that instead of calling him, I'd wait and see if he'd call me. Sure enough he did. And he said he missed me. That would be the good result. Sometimes, however, guys don't respond the way women want and this lets us know that we are wasting our time or he is just simply not interested in us the way we think he is. Hope this helps! =D

Women definitely test men, oftentimes unconsciously. Like others have stated, it's one of their means to determine fitness of a potential mate. Women don't have the same luxury men do in spending time in a relationship that'll go nowhere, thus the sooner they can eliminate the chaff, the better.
