  • i had all 4 of mine cut out when i was 17....i was given some iv medicine that knocked me out for the procedure and kept me sleeping through most of the first day.....seems like the next 2 days i was very sore and only drank liquids but was able to have soup and soft food by day 3.....just keep drinking fluids and make sure to take ur pain medicine on a regular routine for the first 48 hours so ur pain doesn't get "out of control" and then start tapering off the medication on the 3-4 day.....also, don't drink anything out of a straw~the air can hurt your mouth~just small sips of cool liquids......and if you feel the stitches with your tongue~DO NOT pull on them......i remember doin' that~not a good feeling:( all in all......just get through the first 3 days and you'll start feeling much better! good luck with everything~you'll do great :)
  • When i had one removed they took the tooth by the side out first .And general injection into tooth cut the gum pulled it back then pulled wisdom out .
  • It really depends on the quality of dentist you have. The first one I had removed was by a rookie. He had difficulty removing it, and then didn't do the best job patching me up (to this day I still have a bit of loose gum material there. The pain for the next several days wasn't maddening, but enough to warrant the pain pills. Then last year, I had to have my remaining wisdom teeth pulled. I was referred to a place that cost more out of pocket, but in the end I found to be worth it. Not only was the procedure quick, but because it was done so proficiently, I felt as if I could eat regular food later that day.
  • I had all my teeth pulled and got dentures at age 33. My top wisdom teeth had not come in but the dentist could see them after he pulled the ones next to them. So, he just yanked them too. No problem. The bottom ones were really down there, it would have taken a 400 mile round trip to a city to get them out because I needed a real oral surgeon (special trained). So, we just covered them with the dentures, They had never grown at all. The left one grew and needed to come out when I got new dentures, 2 1/2 hour operation. No problem with the healing, etc. It was just really hard to get to. (I was about 54) The last one was covered by the new dentures, then it began to move. Another 2 1/2 hour operation and a dry socket. (I was 63) Just hope you don't get a dry socket, open gum. The only real hurt was the dry socket. I suggest you just have them give you the knock out meds like Abby had. That seems to be the best from the others I've seen.
  • I had three of my wisdom teeth removed and I am getting the fourth one removed next week. On a scale from one to ten, one being no pain and ten being severe enough to need prescription pain meds, I would say that the pain was about a 4 or 5, just for a day. The shot is the scariest part and that lasts for just a second and then you're mouth is numb so you don't feel anything else. Hope this helps. Good luck to you.
