  • I think it's to stop people from stealing them in stores. I've found the best way to open those things is to use a sharp utility knife. You can easily slice a window into the plastic packaging to pull out your toy.
  • I swear to god those things are annoying as heck. I think they put them in there for packaging reasons, so the toy doesn't break out of the packaging. It takes forever to open those packages, lol.
  • it's hard to stop in store theft. I have worked as a cashier and i have first hand experience that often easy to open packaging will be missing items. say some bad kid wants the timber wolf that came with the "Snake-eyes" g.i. joe figure. instead of buying the toy set he or she will tear open the corner of the package and pocket the accessories they want. also it is just easier to steal the toy it's self without the packaging. and even if they don't steal it, you have the unattended kids problem. while mommy is shopping little Timmy and johnny will open packages to play with the toys. once it's been opened who wants to buy it?
  • Annoying, yes, but look at the toy aisles in stores. It is not just theft they are trying to stop. It costs stores alot of money when kids take toys out and play with them because the parents are not watching them. I lose alot of merchandise at my store that way. People want to check it out, then if they buy one, they want a nice package and leave the damaged opened one for the store to lose money on.
  • The toys travel from one end of the world to another and shipping of these goods and reaching the destination intact and in one piece is very important for the supplier. The suppliers get the stick if the items are damaged so they are packed very securely. Most of these toys are made in third world countries or in China or India.Just because one toy is damaged the entire consignment is rejected by the importer!
  • It may be hard for you to open it but give it to the kid and watch it being ripped open in seconds flat. Same applies to all the 'child safety' gadgets out there
