  • I think it comes down to perception. I think of self-consciousness as more of an internal concern: someone who is worried that they will not live up to the standards thy have set for themselves. I think someone who is paranoid is mostly concerned about what society think of them. Paranoid people measure themselves against social norms, self-conscious people measure themselves against themselves. I am unfortunately unable to help you with the second part of your question, but I hope I helped a little.
  • Paranoia is when you are afraid of an object, an idea, or a situation. Self consciousness is when you are afraid of yourself.
