There was a lot more to that than him just forgetting. He either honestly loss track, or he didn't want the public to know because he calls Obama an elitist... while Obama has one home...

Although I'm not a McCain fan, as everyone on AB knows LOL, I think if I had enough money to warrant spending it on several houses, I might lose count eventually as well.

No disrespect to the elderly, but it needs to be remembered that John McCain is not a young man. Aging wears on the body and the brain. His houses are one among many issues he has trouble recalling. Do we want that in a President? I doubt it. High intellectual ability should be a prerequisite for such a complex job.

I don't see it that way. These are his wife's (who has the $$) homes. He probably doesn't visit them all that often, because he is either working or campaigning. I do agree, however, it was a gaffe !

His wife runs the investments. Some are his wife's family homes and some are his. At minimum, he'd have two - one in AZ and one in DC. Knowing how rich his wife is, he probably has more. Poor and middle class people will never be president. If he'd said 2 and was wrong, then he'd be a liar. If he said 7, suddenly he's a rich guy. When he says the truth, "I don't know", he is lambasted as an idiot.

part of the problem was that on one of the 7 estates, he had something like five guest houses. so, how do you count it all in... ? i'm gonna give this one to mccain - he easily could've gotten confused and wanted the press to have an accurate figure provided by staff. do you count guest houses among houses even if they're part of one estate? stable-hand's stall? as far as the sense that "we could do better" - look at obama this way. he graduated from the top of his class and he was editor of the HARVARD LAW REVIEW - he's not just a really smart dude, but, he seems to be a non-elitist with fresh ideas and, if how he is running his campaign is any sign of the effectiveness of how he'll run the country, i'll give him my vote ...
