  • If they are no longer profitable for the networks, they'll stop. Since reality shows have a lower overhead than traditional TV shows, we'll have to wait until the public burns out and the advertisers get wind of it.
  • I dont think so, but we will definately see maybe a bit of a drop seeing that non reality shows like desperate housewives and other really good shows alike are doing so well, and now reality shows like the bacherlor are not.
  • I think there will always be some reality TV. There will always be stuff like "Cops" and all the TV courtrooms ... I think, however, the peak for prime time reality stuff (like "Survivor") may have passed. It will still be a while before it goes away entirely.
  • The producers will never end the shows while they're makin $$$ but if ratings are low they will trash and do something else they do whatever gets them fame and money
  • I dont believe we will see an end, but in years to come, possibly a change in television shows. Since I have been home more lately I am shocked at the amount of "Judge & Courts" shows, one after another. Judge Judy, Christina's Court, Maria Lopez, Judge Joe Brown, Judge Joe Mathis, and the list goes on. Who cares about small claims, never mind the way too many shows on during the day? We could do without all of them in my opinion. I will take one sit com over all of them any day.
  • no it will go on for ever and ever.and we will all die and it would still be on in heaven.
  • No. We are all voyeurs and like to watch the "drama" as it is artificially created for us in the lives of others. Reality shows are just a prime time upgrade from the soap operas and game shows that have entertained us for years.
  • God I hope so, but I doubt it. The thing about reality TV is sometimes you think its disguisting and dispicable but you just gotta watch.
  • NO, if anything it will get worse i think!
  • Reality Show, what a misnomer, I'm sure they will run their course but I shudder when I think what type of garbage will replace them.
  • We can only pray. Oh no wait, I'm an atheist.
  • PLEASE...pleasepleaseplease...you know talent is at it's fringe when they have a reality show to find the "perfect" Danny and Sandy for 'Grease' on broadway...I'd love to see how the hard-working actors feel who have been trying to land that role for years and probably have more talent then those on the show...
  • not soon enough for me. we need more national geographic, discovery, history & pbs.
  • MAN, I HOPE SO. ! ! !
  • I can see the trend end reasonably soon.I work behind the scenes in film and TV and reality TV puts a lot of crew out of work.Less crew is needed to shoot the show.Actors are not needed. The producers of these shows are the only ones to benefit.Thier profits are up because the production costs are very low.It is very demeaning to the television industry that is based on quality production as in backgound sets,on locaton shooting of scenes, the use of actors and extras and behind the scene crews.Support the industry, don't watch reality TV.
  • In reality - I don't thnk so. I ga-ga fantasy land where all the TV programmers think we live? No. See we lose both way!
  • Yes. And they'll probably try to do a reality show about it.
  • Please, GOD, let it be soon. It will give me a reason to go on.....
  • One can only hope !
  • I always thought reality TV might be the death throes of television. Think about it: it's absurd to have to be in front of a TV at a certain time to catch a show as it airs. If the product TV came out in 2009, rather than circa 1950, people used to the Internet would think it ridiculous to be captive to seeing something by the time. If you're a fan of a sitcom, you probably don't care when you watch the sitcom. It could be any day of the week. You'd love it to be at your own leisure. Reality TV is carefully crafted to be topical while people watch it. You don't care about Survivor in 2001, you care about Survivor in 2009. It appeals to the lowest common denominator, sure, but it's made so that morons want to be on the edges of their seats to see what happens, often on the phones at the same time with their moron friends. It's sort of like a low-brow, weekly Super Bowl. Bets are placed, predictions made, etc..
