I honestly did not realize it was a country thing. I would guess it is a historic thing. I find older people use the term brassiere and people under 50 say bra.

Though Floater is right it is also to be taken into consideration that the word brassier is French, thus it is mostly used in Europe now a days. Regards.

i will guess and say the term bra is mostly just used in the US.

I think it depends also on what type of language you speak.Some can easily pronounce bra and some can easily pronounce brassiere.Most probably I think people say bra because its easy for most of the people in the world.
