There are two main ways for having new banana trees: - by the roots some new plants grow (like for the bromeliads), which is good when the "mother" plant is dying ( especially after giving fruit) - wild plants have seeds.

Bananas have seeds... They are the little black spots inside them when you cut them down lengthwise. Right in the middle. SOme kinds of plants do to require the seed in order to grow a new plant. You can use cuttings and root them again by placing them in water. All plants are different and a seed isin't always necessary.
