  • It depends on your taste. While you've probably always been told to drink reduced-fat milk, the majority of scientific studies show that drinking whole milk actually improves cholesterol levels, just not as much as drinking skim does. One recent exception: Danish researchers found that men who consumed a diet rich in whole milk experienced a slight increase in LDL cholesterol (six points). However, it's worth noting that these men drank six 8-ounce glasses a day, an unusually high amount. Even so, their triglycerides — another marker of heart-disease risk — decreased by 22 percent. The bottom line: Drinking two to three glasses of milk a day, whether it's skim, 2 percent, or whole, lowers the likelihood of both heart attack and stroke — a finding confirmed by British scientists. If you're dieting, the lower-fat option is an easy way to save a few calories. When it comes to building muscle, though, whole milk may be your best choice: Scientists at the University of Texas medical branch in Galveston found that drinking whole milk after lifting weights boosted muscle protein synthesis — an indicator of muscle growth — 2.8 times more than drinking skim did.
  • It's not. That article is propaganda. Kids need to stop eating things like fast food, millions of snacks, and so much candy. A glass of whole milk has nine grams of fat. A quarter-pound cheeseburger has 25. A personal Meat Lover's pizza has 49 grams. Milk good. Junk food bad. It's that simple.
  • Full fat milk is recommended for young children because they require the calorific value it provides. Their bodies are growing so fast that in short, they need the energy. They require something from each food group and that includes fats. However, as we get older our diets change and often it is not for the better at all - therefore adults are better off with semi-skimmed milk or whatever. You are right that kids must eat healthily and that means they require sugar, fats, carbs fibre, protein and so on - something from each food group - and it must be balanced. Whole milk is not unhealthy for young children at all - they need the extra calories it provides to grow.
  • milk is healthy its just not healthy alone you cant drink milk and leave you have to eat solid food to get the energy need for day
  • Actually raw whole milk, not pasteurized or homogenized is the healthiest and safest milk. It is easier to digest and doesn't cause the upsets or the fat problems as when the milk is homogenized.
  • Something people need to know about nonfat dairy products is that one can't absorb the Vitamin D because Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin. Therefore, if one can't absorb the Vitamin D, one can't absorb the calcium.
  • OMG NO ONE should drink milk!! WE ARE THE ONLY SPECIES WHO DRINK ANOTHER SPECIES' MILK. kinda strange, no? not to mention what the poor cows go thru just to give the milk!! look it up sometime. folks, NO ONE NEEDS dairy for strong bones......look into it online....... if you must drink something, at least try almond milk........but DO investigate online for sources of protein that are NOT animal-based...... so much animal cruelty going on for us........and it's not the best nutrition, in spite of what the dairy and meat INDUSTRIES TELL US!! but you have to learn for yourselves!!!!!!!!!!!!
