  • Perhaps it's a problem with the disc itself? If you bought it from a game store like GameStop or EBGames, take it back and see if they will try it on their display consoles. If it's some other place, if you can, try it on someone else's console to see if the same problem arises. Then, you'll have certifiable proof it's problem with the game. Most of the time, a problem like this is caused by the disc being dirty or scratched. There is a possibility that your PS2's laser is becoming weak, which will lead to the dreaded DRE, or Disc Read Error syndrome, where seemingly fine discs will produce an error message on the PS2. However, if games of the same media (DVD, or silver backed disc, Blue bottomed CD based games, Black Bottomed Playstation games) are working just fine, it probably is not this problem.
