My doctor told me to eat ice cream when I had a sore throat but the milk in the ice cream could make the cold worse because it can make you more mucuousy (if that's a word, didn't really want to say snotty, but now I have!) :(

It won't make you more sick, of course. However if you feel unwell while eating it [sore stomach, etc], then you obviously shouldn't continue.

Dairy products are usually a "no-no" with the flu or a cold. Sherbet should be fine.

1)You can't taste much when you have the cold/flu 2) dairy cause you to produce more mucous

"Cold kills cold." My mom insists that when she has a very sore throat sipping cool water makes it feel better.:) Different strokes for different folks I presume. My take on this is depends if you have inflated glands or not. If you have inflated glands and eat an ice cream you t throat will hurt if its just a viral flu I don't think you will hurt more.

From my experience, it only makes it worse.

Maybe some soy yogurt or something. I hear that milk can be bad, but the cold should be good for it. Your sinuses are basicially inflamed, cold could help.
