  • See a therapist. Talk to your family. Try to figure out what is the specific cause of your depression. Try to do things that will make you happy. Good luck!
  • Pray, cast your cares on God for He cares for you. Then get involved with helping others. Nothing lifts the spirit like helping others.
  • Exercise... it can help normalize/regulate the many chemicals in your body that may affect mood. Go out with friends and family - focusing on outward issues maybe be healthy... sometimes, sitting by yourself with just your thoughts can get you into a meloncholy state. Don't drink or do drugs - they might seem like they help at first, but once the effects pass, your seretonin and other natural mood chemicals drop causing even heavier depression... Drink OJ and get some sunlight - Sunshine (liguid and real) could be what you need. OJ and other juices can refill any vitamin depletion that can cause depressive symptoms. And sunlight? We need it in order to process certain vitamins like vitamin D. DON'T KILL YOURSELF - your depression might go away, but you'll end up making even more people depressed.
  • Play a video game. Distract yourself. I recommend Prey or Half Life 2.
  • if i were depressed i would try to find something that i am passionate about. like running, surfing, skydiving, ETC. or think of what your life is missing and go after it. set goals, achieve them. and life might be more enjoyable. or make other people happy, and it might make you happy too. :]
  • You should tell us more. What exactly do you mean by "depressed"? Are you sad a lot? Do you feel like there's no future? Are you angry and suppressing the anger? What's happening in your life? Any large / stressful events? The problem with trying to "fix" depression is that it's too vague, abstract, and general. By the time the mind gets done tangling itself up into the knot we call "depression", it's difficult to sort out what is really a core issue from what is just a side-effect of depression. That's why all the questions -- the more you can see and say about the exact details of your mental state, the more your mind starts to become "present" to the actual experience here-and-now of what is happening. Discussing that with people on Answerbag can actually be helpful. It's not a substitute for therapy, but it can provide a connection with others who are interested, understanding, want to help, and live at "safe distance" from your day-to-day life. .
  • Continue to come here to Answerbag and post and rate questions and answers. I'm pretty new, but already I can see that there are a lot of good, caring people here. You will find that although not all questions are good, there are enough good questions - and answers - to make it worth your while. Just look at the answers you've already gotten to this question. Exercise is without a doubt one very good way to improve your mood, as it produces endorphins (hope I spelled that correctly). I've actually known people who did not need to take meds because they exercised enough. Seeing a therapist is also a good option. Remember what you say to a counselor is completely confidential, with very few exceptions to that. Life is hard, but can be good. I think many of us have felt so low that we've felt like giving up, but if you don't, if you keep going then although you may be depressed again in the future, I do think that you will look back and be grateful that you stuck with it and kept going. Good luck, take good care.:)
  • Get help. Seriously. The fact that you go to a psychologist does NOT mean you are messed up, weird, unstable, or anything like that. Believe me, those people can really help. Eventually everything will be turned around. Personaly, helping other people always makes me feel good. Don't suffer in silence, get help instead.
  • Live life as it was your last day
  • Also, search for God. Read the Bible, pray. When I started reading it, at first I wasn't sure, but then I noticed that I had made an amazing discovery. God has mad love for you! It may not seem like it, but He does. He cares for you a lot. Matthew 11:28
  • See a shrink. I see one. There is nothing wrong with it. It could be a chemical imballence, it could be situational. I see one. With the increased stress being put on people, I'm suprised more people don't. Also, just talking to your close friends about your problems can really help.

  • Call a mental health professional as soon as you finish reading this response or ask someone close to you to make the call for you. If you let them know that you are feeling suicidal, you will get an appointment right away. If you think you might hurt yourself, call 911. I have been diagnosed with major depression and have been successful treated for it. The sooner you make the call, the sooner you can start to feel better.

  • i'm depressed to....i'm 15 and have no clue what to do can anyone tell me what I can do? apart from "tell somebody" help?
  • OMG, there are so many options for all of you, first of all, depression is real, if any one says to you, buck up your ideas, that is the cruelist thing to say, yes you need help, there are many ways of getting that, you can go to your GP, and seek counselling services from someone they reccommend, or you can go on anti depressants, which can be life saving for a period in your life that you need them ,or you can try various methods of hypnosis, down load some mp3 cd's that you can listen to at night, that really can help, buy some books on derpession and how to help, but most of all, DONT GIVE UP, this does pass, it will go away, your life can be sunny again, just give it time and energy and love....................
  • I would get counselling right away. I noticed that somebody recommended exercise and proper nutrition, but I know from experience that when you are REALLY, REALLY depressed that last thing you can do is drag your bum out of the door exercising. Exercise does help for mild depression. I know that when I used to be really depressed, I just wanted to sleep and eat. So, counselling, is the best way to get help. Call a hot-line or a good friend. Most depressed people pretty much have severed their relationships because they take too much energy.
  • Look at the reason "WHY" you're depressed.
  • Get rippin drunk with your buddies.
  • seek help in allah learn about islam it is a beautiful religon. you wont regret it
  • Go on with your Day-to-day life, but if you really it is really that bad. Talk to someone. Someone you trust! But don't take it from me, there are many people you can ask. They will tell you the same thing. Someone like a psychiatrist. Or even your doctor. But there is one VERY IMPORTANT you have to remember! YOU ONLY GET TO LIVE OUNCE! SO HAVE SOME FUN WITH YOUR LIFE! i tell that to my self every morning! and it works! the only time i cry is when some is purposefully trying to hurt my feelings (cause I always try my best to keep a smile on my face) OR if I'm in physical pain.So be happy stay positive and have fun!
