I'm afraid not. You are having sticker shock! I had it last year renovating a bathroom. Get another quote if you like. We ended up using some guy to redo a roof for alot less, but it still leaks, probably because he didn't redo pieces like fachia boards etc. Would have been better to pay more and had it done right.

I was just quoted 38K, the same work I received a quote of 25K on 8 months ago. I have a large house and I know lumber and construction costs have gone really high but I'm a little overwhelmed as well. 5K would be welcomed with the red carpet for me. Ask your contractor if they are pulling a ticket with the city or not, I know that affected both of my bids slightly.

The cost is different in every part of the country, and also depends on the square footage of the house. You should get at least three estimates and make sure you have licensed, bonded workers. Edit: 5K for five days is $1,000 per day or $200 per man per day. That is very cheap, especially if it includes the supplies. You practically have the workers working for free by the time they buy all the materials.

How big is the house? How high is the house? How complex is the roof? Lots of gables, valleys, and ridges? Is the roofing material composition, wood, metal, tile? If this house is 3 stories and 3000SF you got great good deal. If this house is 1 story high and 1000 SF you got a good deal. If this house is 10ft by 30ft, you paid a fair price, but the work should be excellent and the materials of good quality. Outrageous is an inappropriate adjective.
