if you beleive god made anything then yes it was perfect to begin with ... untill the devil showed up in form of a snake and tricked eve to eat the apple from the forbidden tree in the garden of eaden. from then on eve would endure pain at child birth etc. etc. and thus all all the imperfections in life were supposed to of came about. and we were supposedly created as an image of the creator (god) so according to bibliogoraphy we were perfect at one point. try reading the bible or appropriate book for your religeon to find out more

All things are perfect in their essence (including us) and that is why Jesus said that the Kingdom is within you. His Original Kingdom Gospel was about how to take recorse to that perfection and change our own lives forever. Most people think that humans cannot be perfect, but this is not the message of the Original Gospel. And as you suggest, perfection is possible because God does not make junk.
