  • Without rolling or wind resistance, the furthest distance a projectile can fly is when launched at a 45 degree angle. To calculate the distance a ball will go, you need to do this: Range = V * cos(angle) * t Height = V * sin(angle) * t - (1/2)g * t^2 V = 35.8 m/s angle = 45 (or different) g = -9.8m/s t = unknown We know at the peak, the velocity is 0. Final velocity = initial velocity + g*t 0 = 35.8*sin(45) - 9.8*t t = 2.58 That's to the peak. The final time, then, is twice that, or 5.17. Range = 35.8 * cos(45) * 5.17 = 130.9 m. You can plug in your own numbers for different angles. Also, this is not taking into consideration your starting height, wind, rolling, or air resistance. The general gist is that as the angle moves away from 45 degrees, it'll decrease your final distance.
