No desktops are usually faster and carry more memory. Laptops are usually just more mobile.

Nowadays, laptops are almost equivalent to desktops since they have plenty of memory and utilize graphics cards with powerful chipsets and plenty of dedicated memory. They also have screens with good resolution. Another thing is that they have everything on, wi-fi, bluetooth, etc. They are quite mobile and tent to be more expensive. You can use them for a variety of things from simple internet surfing to playing latest games without having to compromise in game quality. On the other hand, desktops are cheaper: with the same amount of money you can buy a much faster desktop with a lot better components. Moreover, you can buy a much larger screen with higher resolution. Laptop or desktop? It all depends on the use. The choice is yours

That depends. You can't lug a desktop around. You can't use a desktop on a plane, or in the passenger's seat of a car. I have yet to see a laptop with a 19" or larger display, RAID array, or multiple optical drives to aid disc-to-disc copying. Their total hard drive pace is limited. Laptops are hard to upgrade Also, cooling issues prevent laptops from running as hard or as fast as a desktop. Have you ever seen a laptop running over 4GHz without sucking the battery dry in minutes OR scorching something, likely your lap? Laptops can't have big, honking heatsinks or liquid cooling like a desktop.

I preffer a laptop or used to. I learned its harder for people to steal your desktop though.
