  • Hanukkah does not have traditional colors in and of itself. But if you were to buy Hanukkah decorations you would see lots of blue and white (the colors of the Israeli flag and thus "traditional colors" for Judaism as a whole). Maybe some gold, especially regarding representations of the letters on the dreidel. Of course, Hanukkah is not a major holiday from a theological standpoint. It's fun to light the candles and play with the dreidel, but Orthodox Jews tell me that it's not really that big a deal for them, and it certainly doesn't rank up there with Passover and Yom Kippur. I think that Hanukkah took on extra importance for American Jews because of its proximity to Christmas. Christmas is the big winter event in our country, especially with the unfortunate commercialization it's undergone in recent years, and many Jews seized on Hanukkah as an authentically Jewish festival to keep them busy while Christians were occupied with Christmas. Hanukkah seems to have undergone a commercialization of its own-- the "Jewish colors" of blue and white play a role, but they're symbols of Israel/Judaism and not specifically of Hanukkah.
  • The colours blue, white and silver are the traditional colors of Israel. They are represetative of Hanukkah.. This song is for the colors of Hanukkah The Colors of Hanukkah Our menorah is gold, it holds the candles white Their yellow flame help to tell the story of the light Oh the colors of Hanukkah are beautiful to see Oh the colors of Hanukkah are all around me My dreidel is red, my dreidel is blue My dreidel is yellow, green and purple too (repeat First verse, or add your own for the third) CHORUS: Oh the colors of Hanukkah are beautiful to see Oh the colors of Hanukkah are all around me
  • Blue, gold and white are traditional Hanukkah colors, although in catalogs that feature Jewish artifacts for sale, electric menorahs are frequently shown with varied colored lights similar to Christmas decorations. The current trend seems to be decorations in colors that mimic Christmas. I am not just talking through my hat. I volunteer in a synagogue gift shop, and we have lighted window decorations with Jewish symbols such as menorahs and Stars of David, but in assorted colored lights. However, traditionally, blue, gold and white are Hanukkah colors.
