  • I wouldn.t reccommend it unless you have had some sort of training. Am speaking from experience and have had several disasterous D I Y haircuts that have resulted in having to have it cut short by a hairdresser.. See avatar!
  • Yes but know how to cut the rest of my head. It's just the top.
  • if you want long layers you can pull your hair straight up this is called a 180 degree haircut...if you want short layers you pull it straight out from the head this is called a 90 degree elevation haircut...remember this though when cutting your hair figure out your desired length and once you cut the first section use it as a guide to cut the rest of your hair so that you know you getting a good cut
  • Thanks so much. You're a very helpful person, like me. I love those kind. The world should be full of us. Now with the 180, and 90 degree cuts. You say pull the hair straight out or up. Got it. But then do I cut it off vertical or horizonal? Also would you notch the front last? Ya know when a women gets her hair frosted on top, where it looks like lines across going right or left? Well this is what I'm trying to achieve, but without the frost. Gorgeous looking.
  • Learn the degrees of graduation, there are various techniques that will achieve different results. Cutting your own hair could be quite a callenge for the obvious reasons, so the result can be quite.... Choppy? If your not patient or careful.
  • simply use the ponytail method. thats what i did and it works great (beware those who lie and say it sucks)
  • Use the ponytail method, put your hair into a ponytail on top of your head, and then just snip a straight line across the ponytail! only do it small bits at a time and keep checking it to see if its still going okay! your layers should look lovely if you do it this way.
  • Oh I found a way, so it looks pretty decent now. I've even learned how to cut in. Thanks for the info!
