  • You should be able to disconnect the running lights by pulling the fuse. The owner's manual will tell you where it is located, and which fuse to pull. I had a '95 and the fuse box was under the stairing wheel by the driver's door. It is a small black box.
  • Hummmmm, I wasn't aware that Ford had a daytime running light system on the Taurus in 1999, or any year for that matter? I have a 1997 Taurus LX, and what it does have is the sentry system to where the lights will come on automatically when the lighting conditions deem it necessary based upon what the sensor atop my dashboard reads. The wheel like switch is next to my regular headlight switch, and the more I turn it, the longer the lights stay on after I shut off the vehicle. I usually leave it on all the time, and it will activate my lights some times during the day in shadows, underpasses, and tunnels. I'd double check that you have running lights, or just a sentry system you were not aware of? Peace!
  • Unlike the other 2 responses I actually read your question. I have the same car with the same problem and have the part you need in my hand. you need to buy a little balck module the size of half a deck of cards. I beleive it goes somewhere behind the dash in the middle. Anyway there is a number on it that I believe it is the part number XL2T-15A270-AC all you have to do is unplug the old and plug in the new one
  • All of the suggestions above are valid. For months my drl's were flashing or not working at all then they would not go off. I pulled the fuse in the main box the manual said controled them and they remained on. I searched further and I located the fuse under the hood for the drl module (a 15 amp fuse) and pulled the fuse - the lights went off - since they are not required in Pennsylvania for safety inspection the fuse will remain out. I did locate it and, as above, the module is on the left side almost under the battery. If you aren't required to have them - PULL THE FUSE and drive on ! Frank, Pennsylvania
