Depending on the state ( if US based )... yes most can. Unless specified in you STATE labor laws, any company has the right to limit hours to any employee. If you are in one of the few states or companies that use UNIONS still ... you'd be better off filing a greivence.

When I worked fast food I learned, when I went into management, that you cannot reduce the hours they applied for, and you agreed to, without thier permission.

Yes, but you can always refuse and quit or get fired. With this economy, I'll take what I can get. Everyone is getting fired or hours cut because there isn't enough money to pay them or enough demand for the service they provide.

Full time at Walmart is 28 or more hours, and the Department of labor has OK'd this. Here in Maine I worked "full time" and some weeks I got fewer then 15 hours. Something should be done about this, A person can't be responsible, pay their bills if the pay changes week to week.
