  • Jesus' body died on the cross, but his soul went on to eternal life when he was resurrected. (This does not take away from Jesus' aspect of humanity, as Christians believe that God will resurrect humans on Judgment Day.) Christians still pray to Jesus, and he is still a valid part of the trinity. Each part of the trinity is intertwined with the others; they cannot be fully separated.
  • Hey jac! It’s nice that you're trying to ask good questions. 'Bout time! I love the question you asked! It's great! Do you remember about God taking two natures? One being human, because only human can die, and one being God, because God can't die? You're helping me so much and I thank you! Php 2:6-9! You are wonderful jac! Most bible's have it as "Who being in the very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, (if you grasp something means you hold on to it!), but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, HE humbled himself and became obedient to death-- even death on a cross!" (NIV) Very poor attempt to say that the trinity died Jac! God can't die! Trick question! Who being in the very nature God didn't think it something to be held on to and made himself a servant! (So that he could do what He had to do on the cross!, because again, God can't die so! He had two natures) Your reference only helps the fact that the trinity is real. The trinity states three person in one entity (God)! It's proven biblically! Why do you have such trouble with this fact?! Jesus even claims it by saying He is the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End of Rev 22:13! I love the fact that you're trying to find Christ! Your question only helps others find him as well, and I thank you! Jesus had two natures and everyone who denies his nature of divinity (one being JW’s) is great at highlighting his nature of humanity! You’ll see it jac! You are the same one who said His statement of being the Alpha and Omega is just an illusion, aren’t you?
  • No, though his human body was dead, Jesus was still very much alive in heaven, in spirit form. This is my belief.
  • Jesus' flesh and blood died on the cross but not His spirit, the part of Him which makes Him God. What you need to remember is that He rose again from the dead not just His spiritual form, but of flesh and blood also. Therefore, no part of the trinity ever died. Only the human flesh of Jesus.
  • NO, not at all. Jesus's spirit didnt just go to heaven, his body did too. After he was ressurected he was seen in the flesh by many(all the apostles and others) and when officials went to check his tomb it was empty. Jesus didnt really die. He died physically to wash away our sins but he lives still, which is the whole meaning of ressurection.
  • Great Question. First thing you have to ask yourself to answer this question is "How many do I expect to see on the day of Judgement?".. If your answer is 3, then you are a true trinitarian and you would be a polytheist. (belief in more than one God) Then your question is a great one and cannot be answered because it is impossible. Your question could also be: If the trinity is made up of 3 co-equal beings/persons "God the father, God the Son and God the Holy Ghost" then the purhase of sin has to occur 3 times according to the law. (Hebrews 9:16 KJV) There has to be 2 more calvary's because only a 3rd of the tri-une being has atoned the sin. There are SO many other questions that arise that are generally answered with "It is a blessed mystery".. If your answer is ONE then you really aren't a trinitarian but have taken that 'label' because that is the most popular doctrine about the Godhead. If your answer is ONE, then you need to ask yourself "WHO do I expect to see on the throne?" If your answer is Jesus then you are 100% right! Now.. to answer your question. The Godhead can't be described as "water, steam and ice" nor can it be explained as a "pretzel" as some peole like to do it.. The best way to answer your question is to explain the relationship of the 'three' roles that God has revealed Himself in. The old Testament saw YHWH, the great and sometimes terrible God that would destroy as quickly as look at sin. He revealed Himself to man in different ways, NEVER giving a full revelation but only giving snippets AS the need arose. When the children of Israel needed supply, He did. YHWH Jireh (God who provides)YHWH Rophekah (He heals) YHWH Ro‘iy (He is my shepherd) and many more.. Isaiah 9:6 prophecied about the form that God would take that would be the saviour of mankind. "Unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful, counsellor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the prince of peace". According to Hebrews 9:16 the ONLY one who could bring in the new testament was God Himself. God is a Spirit.. how can a spirit die? Isaiah 40:3 "The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God" This is the beautiful thing about God. We sinned against Him, but He HIMSELF made a way for us to be redeemed. God took on a body of flesh. Its that simple. Jesus was God manifest (made to be seen) in the flesh. (1 Timothy 3:16) God shed blood for you and I. :') Was God still in heaven? Of course. one of God's many attributes is His omnipresence. (Everywhere at once).. so for the whole of God to be in heaven as well as in a body of flesh is nothing for the creator of the universe! Another attribute is His Omnipotence (All power). Was Jesus any less the very God who pieced together the stars in the heavens? No! now the Holy Ghost. How does this fit in. Quite simple. Remember when Jesus said in John 14:18 "I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you." The word 'comfortless' literally means in the Greek "Father"..I will not leave you without a father, I will come to you! Even in its translated form it speaks volumes. Who is the Comforter? The Holy Ghost. Jesus said.. I WILL COME TO YOU. He did do this on the day of Pentecost when JESUS Himself infilled man with the Holy Ghost. Jesus is the Father, Jesus is the Son, Jesus is the Holy Ghost! Think of it this way. I am a father, I am a son and I am a Business Manager. I am one person, indivisible with 3 roles. I don't have 3 separate persons but one> I can be a father at the same time as a son.. I can also be a son at the same time in my job! Jesus was the creator, He is the redeemer, He is the Comforter. Hope this helps! Dueteronomy 6:4 "Hear o Israel, the Lord our God is one Lord"
  • Exactly, what does that mean? How would that work? If Jesus is supposed to be God, then God died there too? Was the universe on autopilot for 3 days while Jesus/God lie in the tomb? If Jesus did not “really die” a real death as some of the other answers here imply, doesn’t that take away from the value of his sacrifice? The ancient pagan teaching of the trinity is very difficult to reconcile with what the Bible really says.
  • Maybe we need a better understanding of what "death" really is.
  • Im sorry if someone has already stated this but Jesus went to hell for 3 days as well as being crucified to forgive us of our sins. An to answer the actual question no 1/3 of the trinity didn't die because Jesus didn't die just moved on
  • this is one of the questions i asked a priest before deciding i wasn't christian anymore...he said no, just the body. i asked the point of believing in a sacrifice where he didn't die. then the answer changed - he died physically. i asked the point of believing in a sacrifice of the body when the concern is about our souls. that's where i got lost in the situation, decided it wasn't for me, and moved on
  • You err in considering death an ending.
  • I expect to get DR for this and I don't mind. I believe that Jesus did not die on the cross. I believe in Jesus the Christ and Messiah. I believe in his teachings, his greatness, and his miracles. Here's the kicker...I'm not Christian. I don't pray to Jesus, I pray to God. I believe that, if Jesus IS God as you say, then praying to God is praying to Jesus, but you would be praying directly to God. Why have a middle man/God. I, like many, believe that God took Jesus to heaven before the crucifixion and had one of the guards that was sent to retrieve Jesus take on the likeness of Jesus so that it was the heathen guard that was sacrificed...not the Messiah. Why would God allow the messiah, the Christ, to be cruelly killed at the hands of a heathen in order to prove to people that He existed? Lets look at it another way, Why would God do this? It doesn't make sense for there was nothing to gain. All people were created by God, thus, all people have a chance to get into heaven. If you are Christian, you beleive that the tower of Babel was the startin point for language and race so all people shared religion at that point as created by God. If all people were created equally in the eyes of God, and all people have a chance at heaven, and all people know of God and His work, why did God send Himself to die? It's illogical. God created all things...including sin. The first sin happened the moment there was opportunity to sin..since the option existed, the outcome existed...thus...God created sin when he allowed Adam to choose whether or not to eat the fruit. Since God dictates what constitutes sin, and He has the final say so in all things...how did God die to wash away our sins? Couldn't He have just said "Your sins are washed away". He could have, but Christians will argue that He didn't because some people wouldn't have gotten the messege and it was a way to allow all of God's children, not just His chosen ones into heaven...but isn't it true that ALL people are God's people. It's kind of like the Illinois State Drivers License, on the back is a donor sticker that says "this is a legal document", the rest of the id doesn't have to have one since the people that decide if you are using a legal document know that a license is a legal document, they don't have to prove to themselves that the document that they gave you is valid to them. In the same manner...If God chooses what sin is and He alone chooses who goes into heaven and who doesn't, and He created all people..then He doesn't have to send Himself to wash away the sins He chose from the people He created to give Himself reason to let us into heaven under His discretion. I know this answer has gone a lot of different ways...but let me bullet point so it can be argued and a good debate can start more easily. 1) God can't die 2) God created sin 3) God chooses who gets into heaven 4) God never had to prove anything 5) We are all God's creations 6) The crucifixion was contradictive by nature Again, don't get me wrong, I believe in Christ and his status as the Messiah..I look forward to meeting him and speaking with him in heaven..but I don't believe that he is God. I believe he was a prophet and a man...but not God. Salaam
