This premise is highly patronizing and damaging because it suggests one group is superior over others - that those who celebrate Christmas are more tolerant than those who do not. Therefore it can only hinder race relations.

Seriously??? It galls me when I hear we are curbing our religious observances so as not to offend others who believe differently. Weren't we here first? If they don't like the way followers of other religions observe their religious hallmarks, then why don't they just return to their homeland, or learn the principles of tolerance like the rest of us?

Britain stopped being a Christian country a long time ago, so I see no reason to continue the facade of celebrating such pagan rituals anyways.
