  • You could have a "timing" play where for example runner on second and two away. Batter hits a single but tries to stretch into a double where the batter/runner is thrown out making the third out. If the base runner that started at second touched home plate before the out is recorded at second then technically there is a third out but the run would still score.
  • I had in mind baserunner on second heading to dugout after apparent HR with man on third nobody on first or bases loaded 3-1 count runners on first and second a going with pitch, (maybe bad strategy in itself) ball four called, catcher throws to second without waiting for call, runner overslides second and tagged off base after runner on third crosses plate. I mean before runner on third crosses plate.
