  • Yes, ignorance seems to be the biggest factor. Most people confuse Agnostic with Athiest. I understand why, similar words and some people are to self involved to even take the time out of their involved lives to actually learn something that goes against their own beliefs. Some people will always be to lazy to not be ignorant.
  • I think you've got it mixed up. Atheists do not believe in a higher being. And agnostics are in the middle - they're not sure if theres a god or not.
  • An agnostic, in general, is someone who doesn't think that a particular "fact" is proveable or certain, whether they tend to believe in the fact or not. Most of the time when people use the word agnostic they are refering to someone who isn't sure whether there is a god or not, or someone who thinks there is no way of knowing for sure. Literally, "agnostic" means without knowledge. Agnostics are not considered atheists. If they are, it is by small-minded religious people who reject anyone who is on the fence about the issue. People like that tend to think in black and white terms.
  • MIDDLEGROUND- My view is that Atheists do not believe in a god, while Agnostics do not believe the human mind has the power to know whether or not one exists. This makes the idea of 'god' irrelevant, "unknown or inherently unknowable". It is like someone saying "I do not know and nor does anyone else". And while existance may be possible, there is no way of knowing.
  • Most agnostics do not believe in a higher power of any sort. They simply state that the concept is unknown, so do not profess active belief or active disbelief.
  • because GOD IS NOT RELIGION, HE IS the HIGHER POWER, the I AM..the Father of each of us...HE Lives in each, not a building, religious sect, group, each of us...and HE does not RECOGNIZE anything other than that!! U Believe or u don't...Recognize this "higher power" or why should HE Recognize u??? don't u think satan recognizes those who believe in him as their "higher power"??? sure he does....he knows who to use ......the ignorant...and rebellious, the opposers as he was....
  • Your definition of an agnostic is inaccurate. An agnostic, to my knowledge, is an individual who does not know whether or not a deity exists. Someone who believes in a general greater power but does not affiliate themselves with any type of organized religion is a deist. It's my experience that theists are usually more tolerant of deists than they are of atheists. As far as agnostics go, some theists see them as an opportunity for conversion so there isn't much animosity. They're often lumped together with atheists when people are referring to skeptics or non-believers because of a black-and-white policy: if you're not one, then you are the other. If you do not believe in a god completely, then you are a disbeliever.
  • I believe in a Supreme Being or God, but do not believe in religion. I see religion as a form of control over people, in fact, before there was a need for police, the "government" kept people in control by saying there was a God and a devil. Maybe the reason there is such a large variety of religions is because depending on what kind of control was needed, depended upon the stories that were told at that time. I don't know, it is only speculation. The Bible only needs one written in it...LOVE. Because when a person loves, everything good comes natural and all bad disappears. This is what my Bible says and what I try to live by. That one word eliminates wars...many that were fought over religion. One word...LOVE. It is the one word that almost all religions believe in. The one word that we all need to go by. God is Love.
  • It's simple really.. Some people don't know their rectum from a hole in the ground and have some goofy idea that the boogieman is going to just "appear" and say "See? I told you so...I told you so!" like this magic boogieman, god is secretly writing Lush Limpballs books for him too.. "I told you so".. what utter hogwash!
  • mistaken belief
