  • Did you format your whole hard drive or part of your partition? Did you update your anti-virus software and run a full computer scan? What operating system are you running on your system? Windows XP or Windows Vista? If your system are running too slow, Click start - run - type msconfig - startup-uncheck programs that you do not require with less applications windows will start up faster.Another alternative is to increase your ram.Try AVG Free Edition anti virus you can download it at Http://www.download.com or Http://www.grisoft.com.   • I had this issue myself once. I would install my AV software but as soon as I connected, I got infected within seconds, before I could even update the AV database. What I wound up doing was going into Service Manager and shutting off Messenger (not to be confused with MSN Messenger). Nobody uses it for it's intended use. This may not be YOUR issue, but it worked for me. Basically, I got nailed by viruses newer than the AV program installer. What would happen with me is that I would get a Messenger popup and then the AV would either hang or die.
